The Paumanok Path - Join us on our weekly hikes.

The ~ 125 mile long, Paumanok Path runs between the old RCA property in Ridge and the much older Light House in Montauk. The trail is constantly being changed and redirected to have as little impact on the surrounding environment as possible.  The objective is to give the gentle user a safe, pleasant, and natural experience.

With permission and assistance from the land managers, three hiking groups build, restore, maintain, and reroute not only the Paumanok Path, but so many other beautiful trails in Suffolk County.  It is hard to believe how much they accomplish with so little human and material resources.  If you enjoy these trails, these trail folk are your best buddies, and they are great people to work with.

The western section of the trail from Ridge to Hampton Bays is maintained by volunteers of the L.I. Greenbelt Trail Conference Inc.

Inventory Hikes:

The Paumanok Path Inventory Hikes will assist us in refining our
stewardship objectives for the Paumanok Path. We hope to engage
people’s imagination and encourage participation in this exciting
trails project.

Anyone who can hike 10 miles at a reasonable pace is invited to participate in the series of Paumanok Path Inventory Hikes. This first series of inventory hikes along the entire ~125 miles of the Paumanok Path locates the issues and describes the resources necessary to address them. This documentation will be used to direct maintenance crews and better visualize stewardship objectives for the PP.  Later inventory hikes can document interpretive, geological, ecological, and historic points of interest along the trail.
These hikes can document everything from natural scenic treasures to community retail establishments.
Contact Ken if you would like to join us on these assessment hikes. Ken Kindler on Facebook

Each weeks hike is planned for Wednesday's at 10 am. We meet at our ending point and carpool back to the start. Weather could change day. Notice and directions will be listed here and updated each week.
See you on the trail.
